 RÉSEAU AFRICAIN DES PERSONNES VIVANT AVEC LE VIH (RAP+)
 NETWORK OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS
 

The Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (RAP+) was created in 1993 at the initiative of Michael Angaga and David Chipanta during an Africa-wide meeting in Mombassa, Kenya. Today, the network has more than 100,000 members in more of 30 countries throughout Africa. To respond to its mission of improving the quality of life of for people living with HIV/AIDS in Africa, RAP+ has set up sub regional national networks. This network currently covers the 15 ECOWAS countries in addition to Mauritania. Currently, there are 11 national networks in the following countries: Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Senegal, Togo, Niger, Ghana, Benin, Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria.

Their focus for AWARE-HIV/AIDS includes the following:

•  Strengthen the capacity of the RAP+ to efficiently act as a regional network

•  Strengthen the capacity of national networks of PLHA in West Africa

•  Support the RAP+ in the implementation of advocacy activities
