BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF REGIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND NETWORKS |
An expanded and comprehensive response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the West African region requires strong national and regional institutions and networks capable of fully playing their respective roles in the response. AWARE-HIV/AIDS capacity development efforts are led by Family Health International and use a broad definition to refer to the various methods of "skills transfer" needed for HIV/AIDS programming from prevention to care and treatment in order to achieve scale with quality and sustainability. These include activities such as: Training Coaching Mentoring Systems development Many West African health care institutions and networks are already contributing and have the potential to play a stronger leadership role in the fight against HIV/AIDS. AWARE-HIV/AIDS is identifying and working with these organizations to assist them in their efforts to strengthen their organizational, technical and marketing capacities to enable them to expand the reach and impact of their work.
